Zen Meditation Seminar

Conducted By

Mr. John Mihailov (Former Zen Monk)

From 1987 to 1993, John was a dedicated Zen student and lay monk. He renounced his vows and no longer formally practices, but is willing to offer some insights based on his experience in Zen practice and life in a Zen monastery. The session will include an introduction to Zen, sitting practice, koan, a traditional reading and some reflections on the traditional relationship between Zen practice and Martial Arts training.

The session will be conducted in your Gi, less your belt (the traditional Japanese martial arts Gi was actually based on Zen monastic robes). If you can, please bring a small ‘zafu’ or cushion (approximately 6” high and 12” x 12” give or take) – if you forget, we’ll make other arrangements for you.
